Page 1 Preview: Rats in the Night!
Some nights just weren't meant for sleeping!
Our oldest grandson, Clinton came to stay for a few days
awhile back and I am sure went home with some great
"adventure tales!"...As usual!
It seems that he is rather a light sleeper...or maybe it is just
that Gramma makes a lot of noise in the night! Whatever the
case, Gramma found that "SOMETHING" makes a lot of noise
in the night! No doubt about that!
It can be so exasperating around two o'clock in the morning
to be awakened from a peaceful sound sleep by "something"
making a thunderous racket just outside ones bedroom!
It came to mind that it must be cows, no wild animal could
possibly make that much racket I thought!...At least I
HOPED...FOOLISHLY! that it might be cows...I really didn't
want to tangle with a bear or a moose in my nightie!
It was just "wishful thinking" I know to hope that Walter
would get up and go investigate so finally I heaved myself up
out of the warm cocoon in the bed, donned my housecoat and
slippers and headed outside, flashlight in hand. Daisy, the
faithful dog thought this a great idea and bounded off into the
darkness.
I cautiously rounded the corner of the house and shone the
flashlight off in all directions. Funny I thought, no eyes
shinning back at me, the culprit must have gone off into the
hedge. After stumbling around in that tangled mess for a few
minutes Daisy let out a ferocious bark that nearly made me turn
tail and head back to bed!
