Carrie Krenzler
Wood Worker

Carrie Krenzler grew up in McBride. She moved away for a few years but eventually came back to raise her family. Since retiring, Carrie enjoys creating and travelling, but is always grateful to come home to the natural beauty of the Robson Valley.

Carrie has always loved to create. When she was younger, she would draw, paint, and sew, eventually getting into woodworking. She enjoys making seasonal crafts, home decor, and art, but that becomes difficult when she’s on the road. As a result, she started to bead and make pine needle baskets while travelling. Though she is still learning these skills, she’s having fun in the process and fostering a connection to her Metis ancestry.

She believes that creativity takes courage; sometimes your vision doesn’t quite come out as you expected it to. The beauty of handmade creations is in the imperfections, not everyone will care for it, but someone will love it.

“Creating is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun. That’s what I strive for,” she says.

She calls herself a crafts person, up cycling or re-purposing wood and other materials for her art. Never one to stick to a single form of art, Carrie let’s her intuition guide the way. Whatever she feels at the time and her available materials inform her creative decisions.
