Whistlestop Gallery
Artists and artisans of the Robson Valley
The Whistle Stop Gallery would like to acknowledge that we are honored to work, explore, and create on the unceded lands of the Lheidli T’Enneh and Simpcw First Nations. It is our responsibility to acknowledge the Indigenous land we reside on and provide an inclusive safe space that does not tolerate discrimination in any form. It is our mission to honor diversity and freedom of expression.

Matthew Wheeler
Photographer & amateur astronomer
Portfolio:
Matthew Wheeler was first recognized for his artistry at the age of ten, when the Louvre exhibited a painting of his that featured a train passing by his family's farm. He went on to take many of the photos of Canada's passenger trains seen on VIA Rail's website, national timetable covers, and brochures worldwide. His photography has been featured in magazines such as Beautiful BC, Geist, Scientific American, as well as in his own puzzle book, Small Worlds, in The Robson Valley Story (both available in the gallery) and on various travel book covers. Some of his photos can be seen on the walls of McBride's Visitor Centre and in the gallery. His photo of the Orion Nebula over local Mount Lucille was the only photo from Canada included in the shortlisted images at the 2017 Astronomy Photographer of the Year world competition held at Greenwich Observatory, London. His photos and videos of unusual aurora have been featured several times on the front page of spaceweather.com
